Badass set up!

Ok folks, what we got here is:

In the top vimeo video it shows a "Token", a multi-touch display platform, along with "Emulator", a multi-touch MIDI controller software device.

"Token" has been created by Rodrigo Campos Santiago de Chile. Its general purpose is to raise the status of a "live performance" to the next level.

This version of "Token" in the video is a prototype, the creator is working on the final version, which will make way for its early commercialization. For now, it is not for sale nor have they determined its value.

"Emulator" created by Smithson Martin Inc.

The software is designed to work with tablet PCs, stand alone multi-touch LCDs, and rear projection touch screens.

The first Version 1.0 includes layout 100% compatible with Traktor Pro internal mode, future upgrades include Traktor exteral mode and new layouts for Deckadance, Virtual DJ, Ableton, Serato and many more.

A demo version of "Emulator" is available at:
www.smithsonmartin.com/downloads/

Also, for note:

A "Token" multi-touch display is not a must for the "Emulator" software. Although, the "Token" is bitchin', you can find other multi-touch LCD screens at:

The missing link...

"____ is patient, ____ is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. ____ does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. ____ never fails."

What am I missing?..

Hello, stranger... May I help you?

Chen Fuchao (man with the hat), a man heavily in debt and suffering from depression, had been contemplating suicide on a bridge in southern China for hours when a passer-by, Lai Jiansheng, (left) came up, shook his hand and pushed him off the ledge.

MMA news...

-Chael Sonnen tested positive for using Performance-Enhancing Drugs at UFC 117-

Chael Sonnen, the UFC middleweight contender who nearly defeated champion Anderson Silva in August, tested positive for steroid use the day of the fight, California State Athletic Commission Executive Officer George Dodd said Sunday.

Sonnen will have 30 days to appeal his 1 year suspension and a $2,500 fine. UFC's plans for a Sonnen-Silva rematch on Feb. 6th 2011 in Las Vegas, NV may not take place.

Sonnen received written notification of his positive sample in a letter the athletic commission sent Friday. Dodd said Sonnen’s positive test emerged from a urine sample he gave before the fight that was processed through the UCLA Olympic drug-testing lab.

Sonnen nearly became the first man to beat Anderson Silva since the Brazilian became champion in 2006. Sonnen won all four rounds on the judges scorecards, but was then submitted in the fifth. Sonnen drew attention by trash-talking Silva and UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar, and also denied a recording in which he was alleged to have said cyclist Lance Armstrong “gave himself cancer” by using performance-enhancing drugs.

Silva’s manager Ed Soares, who engaged in some heated exchanges via the media in the build up to the fight, was stunned when asked for his reaction. “If it’s true, I feel really bad for him,” said Soares. “I know he did it to himself but it is really sad, he put on such a great performance that night. It is just a shame it will be tarnished.”

The UFC said they will not punish or cut Chael Sonnen. Dana White responds... "When one of them fails a test, the government is going to fine them and suspend them and tell them they can’t make a living for a year. So should I come in after they’ve already lost the ability to make a living for a year and been fined all this money and, in the worst economic disaster in the history of the world, fine them another huge amount and take away their ability to make a living even longer?"

In other news...

According to Jon Jones' agent Malki Kawa, the UFC fighter is almost certain to square off against the winner of Ryan Bader vs Minotoro Nogueira UFC 119 bout.

UFC 117 Main Event...

Credit to Chael Sonnen for dominating Anderson Silva for almost the entire fight. Also, much credit deserved to Anderson Silva for finding the spot for a submission and weathering a heavy storm of punches and take downs from Chael Sonnen. A truely incredible fight between 2 top-notch fighters. A must-see fight for MMA fans...

"The Janitor" swept up a loss by crushing elbows from "Bones"...

Jon "Bones" Jones proved the skeptics wrong once again, with a quick victory over "The Janitor" Vladimir Matyushenko at the main event of UFC on Versus 2. As soon as Jon Jones closed the distance from Matyushenko, "The Janitor" found himself on the ground after a great takedown by Jones. Vladimir Matyushenko looked for an armbar, but Jones slipped out and quickly improved his position into a Crucifix, which allowed him to rain down his bone crushing elbows for a TKO.

The referee Herb Dean had no choice but to stop the fight, as Matyushenko could not find a chance to improve his position. Jon Jones' amazing reach, unorthodox striking, and a great ground game made him an unstoppable force against his most recent opponents, with his sights set on testing himself against the UFC's Top 5 Light Heavyweights.

In fact, Jon Jones' reach is only 3 inches shorter than that of the Gigantic 7 ft. Russian Boxer Nikolai Valuev. Dana White and Joe Silva have no choice but to match-up Jon Jones against a Top 5 opponent in his next fight. Jones vs. winner of the bout Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs. Ryan Bader (UFC 119) may be something the fans would love to see.

How I got STRAIGHT JACK'd at the CBS Radio poker tournament...

I was invited by KROQ to play in a $10,000 prize pool poker tournament at no cost to me. It was a shootout style tournament which means every 10 player table plays it out until the last man/woman is standing. Then, advances to the next round and the same continues. Only 3 rounds were expected.
ROUND 1...
The table where I was seated had mostly solid but straight-forward players with the exception of 2 barely mediocre players. So, it boiled down to this: 7 good players, 2 not so good players, and I the best player at the table.
IN THE BEGINNING...
Didn't see much of the need to play many hands since blinds were so small & I was just planning on waiting until the table was short-handed before I strated to mix it up & take down some bigger pots.
As time went on, I ended up being the chip-leader with only 4 players left at the table. One being the short-stack and 2 others with similar stacks for second & third in chips.
STRAIGHT JACK'd...
The hand that killed my opportunity to advance:
I was in the Big Blind position & got dealt 9/9. First to act called the big blind, second to act on the button (who was actually second in chip-lead) raised 3X the big blind. Small blind folded & I smooth called, along with early position player. Flop came 9,2,8 with 2 clubs on board. I check, next player checks, button raises the pot size. PERFECT! I flopped 3 nines!
I paused for a bit, contemplating what he could possibly have? Ace/9? 3 eights? 3 twos? A club draw? Pocket pair of 10s or greater? Either way, I had him beat at that moment! So, I decided to push ALL-IN.
It took him about 10 seconds to think about it and he calls with a pair of JACKS. Yes!! Awesome!!
The turn comes 7 of diamonds. The board reads 9,2,8,7. The river comes 10!!!
What the F*CK!!! The 10 made him a straight!! WOW!! How unlucky can a person get! Unbelievable! I made the perfect play and get the most unluckiest runner, runner cards. That's poker folks!!
I was still in the game but down to being the short-stack. I caught Ace/Queen suited so I pushed ALL-IN and caught top 2 pairs but was beat by 3 nines... How ironic... LOL!
...Til next time cabrones!
...I will live to die another day...

New Civil War?

During all the controversy regarding Arizona's Immigration Bill, it has taking another bad turn as utility commissioner of Arizona issues a power play threat.

Here's part of Arizona Corporation Commission member Gary Pierce's letter to the mayor:

"If an economic boycott is truly what you desire, I will be happy to encourage Arizona utilities to renegotiate your power agreements so Los Angeles no longer receives any power from Arizona-based generation.

I am confident that Arizona’s utilities would be happy to take those electrons off your hands. If, however, you find that the City Council lacks the strength of its convictions to turn off the lights in Los Angeles and boycott Arizona power, please reconsider the wisdom of attempting to harm Arizona’s economy."

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is in Washington D.C., meeting with Mexican President Felipe Calderon, but his deputy chief of staff issued the following statement: "The mayor stands strongly behind the city council and he will not respond to threats from the state that has isolated itself from an America that values freedom, liberty and basic civil rights."

These are very bold statements. Although, actions will speak louder than words.

Los Angeles VS. Arizona??

Mexicans VS. Arizona??

VIVA LA REVOLUCION!!

Part 2:

Everyone’s pissing and moaning because the Immigration Bill basically gives Arizona authorities the right to ask Mexicans for documentation to prove they’re legal citizens.

Apparently, it’s the same law that the Federal Government has in the books, but as it turns out, the Federal Government isn’t nearly as bad group of assholes as the state of Arizona is.

But if the authorities in Arizona are going to start IDing Mexicans, the good thing is it’s pretty easy to distinguish between a Mexican American and an illegal Mexican -- but just to be safe, let me explain incase any dimwitted Arizona police officers are reading my blog:

For example, this is a good representation of what an American Mexican may look like:

What an illegal Mexican may look like:
Standing near a bunch of white children in front of a house, one would assume he is fixing something at that house. Others huddle together, much like a group of ornery hookers, hungry to perform whatever dirty job is requested of them by old, fat, white men who are too lazy to set up their own barbecue grills or screw in a light bulb.

But I understand the concern in Arizona. The idea of thousands of people from another country sneaking into our country is sort of a scary thought. But it’s not like we’re talking about members of the Taliban crossing the borders with WMDs in their backpacks or anything like that.

We’re talking about proud & hard-working people. All I can say, since I’ve lived in Los Angeles, I’ve never once seen a homeless Mexican.

You know why I’ve never seen a homeless Mexican? Because they’re too fucking busy working eight jobs to be homeless. If for some strange reason, a Mexican were actually homeless, they wouldn’t have any time to sleep on the sidewalk because they’d be too busy sweeping it & collecting recyclables.

Sure, there’s always gonna be a couple of bad apples in the bunch, but like I said, 99% of them are honorable, hard-working people. Lets be honest, they’re not taking many jobs away from Americans -- at least, jobs that any Americans are willing to do. Most Americans are too good to do any of the tasks that illegal Mexicans are willing to do to put food on their tables.

Although their wages aren’t being taxed, illegal Mexicans still contribute to the economy every time they go to Wal-Mart or DMV because they bought a used pick-up truck, etc.

All Mexicans want is a better way of life – and you can’t blame them for coming here because that’s the American dream we’ve been advertising since this country was created in 1776.

It’s no wonder Mexicans are willing to risk their lives crossing the border to get into our country:

-The Mexican government is corrupt

-The drug cartels are terrorizing citizens

-Too many unimproved/non-paved roads

-The oceans and airports in Mexico smell like raw sewage -- which is a polite way of saying "shit".

I don’t know how you guys feel, but if I lived under those conditions I’d want to leave my country, too. And to be quite honest, living in Arizona isn’t much better, but at least it’s in the United States.

Picture of the week...

"Dirty Thunderstorm"

The Lion, the kids, and WTF?...

WTF? Was this a real alive lion? Yes! My brother and I were the kids in this picture circa late 70's at Six Flags Magic Mountain in California. Apparently it was a sedated lion but nonetheless what the fuck were our parents thinking? Lets see if the lion eats them? Or it's such a cute lion, let them take a picture with it? Regardless of what they were thinking, this has to be hands down my favorite kid picture. I think they may have been C.S. Lewis fans?

Let me introduce ourselves...
