How I got STRAIGHT JACK'd at the CBS Radio poker tournament...

I was invited by KROQ to play in a $10,000 prize pool poker tournament at no cost to me. It was a shootout style tournament which means every 10 player table plays it out until the last man/woman is standing. Then, advances to the next round and the same continues. Only 3 rounds were expected.
ROUND 1...
The table where I was seated had mostly solid but straight-forward players with the exception of 2 barely mediocre players. So, it boiled down to this: 7 good players, 2 not so good players, and I the best player at the table.
IN THE BEGINNING...
Didn't see much of the need to play many hands since blinds were so small & I was just planning on waiting until the table was short-handed before I strated to mix it up & take down some bigger pots.
As time went on, I ended up being the chip-leader with only 4 players left at the table. One being the short-stack and 2 others with similar stacks for second & third in chips.
STRAIGHT JACK'd...
The hand that killed my opportunity to advance:
I was in the Big Blind position & got dealt 9/9. First to act called the big blind, second to act on the button (who was actually second in chip-lead) raised 3X the big blind. Small blind folded & I smooth called, along with early position player. Flop came 9,2,8 with 2 clubs on board. I check, next player checks, button raises the pot size. PERFECT! I flopped 3 nines!
I paused for a bit, contemplating what he could possibly have? Ace/9? 3 eights? 3 twos? A club draw? Pocket pair of 10s or greater? Either way, I had him beat at that moment! So, I decided to push ALL-IN.
It took him about 10 seconds to think about it and he calls with a pair of JACKS. Yes!! Awesome!!
The turn comes 7 of diamonds. The board reads 9,2,8,7. The river comes 10!!!
What the F*CK!!! The 10 made him a straight!! WOW!! How unlucky can a person get! Unbelievable! I made the perfect play and get the most unluckiest runner, runner cards. That's poker folks!!
I was still in the game but down to being the short-stack. I caught Ace/Queen suited so I pushed ALL-IN and caught top 2 pairs but was beat by 3 nines... How ironic... LOL!
...Til next time cabrones!
...I will live to die another day...
